first snowfall
The first snowfall corresponded with the day to “fix up the garage.” My dad, uncle, and Mike worked all day in the cold but made a TON of progress. Can’t wait to post how much better it looks. In the spring we are going to do more work to fix it up. Like everything, we are taking steps.

almost to move in day
Thursday marks move in day, out of the apartment completely, and Friday morning we are leaving for Milwaukee so this is quite the week. We have been packing and sorting. Although we have paired down our belongings considerably, it is good to go through and see what we haven’t used lately. We both really want to have less junk laying around so it works out.
Today we dropped off a carload at...

weekend 4 update
This hardwood is now installed in the front section of the living room. The floor guys are probably there right now, working. We get to move in furniture around the 27th!

weekend three update
The painting is all done in the entire house, except for the tiny front closet which Mike wiped and taped yesterday for my parents to paint today. My dad pulled all of the millions of staples out of the stairs (from carpet) and his hands were super sore. What a great dad, eh? All prep work for the floors.
We also figured out a layout of furniture for the family room. That felt really good....

upstairs bathroom
Here is some progress on the upstairs bathroom. We removed the oversized vanity and painted.
I am going to be making a new vanity that I am pretty excited about. I need to figure out the lighting above it, though. The mirror I am working with is oval and the light needs to go above it; maybe I should go to Barnes and Noble and look through the magazines for ideas.
The idea behind this bathroom...

the farm house
The farmhouse was the first house Mike and I lived in; over 100 years old and set to be torn down until I asked if we could move in. It was in the country on my aunt and uncle’s farm; they lived right next door. Beautiful and peaceful, Mike and I shared so many great memories making this house into our home.
It was torn down about a month ago and eventually will be covered with a great...
